For many students, figuring out how to pay for a college education is a challenging obstacle. As 4th generation legacy student Jason Render can attest, scholarships can go a long way toward freeing students from the burden of student loan debt.

Thanks to several scholarships, Render was able to come to UA and thrive, both in and out of the classroom. Here, he serves as a Student Ambassador, works in the admissions office, and is an active member of the Student African-American Brotherhood, as well as a 300+ hour volunteer with the Akron Peacemakers.

With financial support to cover tuition and books, Render is free to focus on getting involved–and working toward his ultimate goal of a degree in Political Science and National Security.

“After graduating from UA with my bachelor’s degree, I hope to go into law school and then one day work in the national security field, says Render.“ UA has prepared me to achieve these goals as I have been challenged in and out of the classroom daily, while also having the opportunity to connect with many professors who have extensive knowledge and oftentimes experience in the national security and law fields.”
